It started with a few neighbours and a row of open trunks.
Neighbours park in a row, pop their trunks and hand out candy. It's grown every year since, and it's still run entirely by volunteers, still free to walk into, and still just people who want kids to have somewhere safe to be silly.
Trunk to trunk, not door to door
Community members decorate their trunks and hand out candy to kids in costume, all in one well-lit lot. Instead of walking unfamiliar streets after dark, families do a single loop with no roads to cross.
It's more than candy: it's neighbours meeting neighbours, kids showing off costumes they've planned for weeks, and the whole town in one place for a couple of hours.
What's there on the night
All of it free, all of it in one lot, and wrapped up in time for bedtime.

Every one a different theme, from pirate ships to whatever the kids talked their parents into.
Games and activities
Ring toss, pumpkin decorating, and a few things we make up on the day.
A proper photo corner
A backdrop, good lighting, and someone happy to take the picture so you're in it too.
One lit, watched lot
No roads to cross and no dark driveways — volunteers are posted on every corner.
Questions we always get
What time should we get there?
The event runs 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM — come any time in that window. Trunk hosts need to be on site and parked by 4:30 PM, when the lot closes to keep the kids safe.
Is it really free?
Completely — free for everyone. No ticket, no donation box at the gate. Local sponsors cover the candy and prizes, so nobody pays at the gate.
Where do we park?
Families use the main Smith's Food & Drug lot. We take over the north end of the lot. Trunk hosts use the marked host area.
Do we have to dress up?
Never required. Most kids do, plenty of grown-ups don't, and nobody minds either way.
Is there anything for kids with allergies?
Not at the moment — the trunks hand out regular candy, so bring your own treats if your child has an allergy. If you'd like to run an allergy-friendly trunk, get in touch.
